Meet the librarians
Ms. Jamie Whiting
Hi, I am Ms. Whiting the new librarian at Lathrop High School. I am originally from Michigan, and I graduated from Dearborn High School in 2014. I went to college at Northern Michigan University and graduated in 2018 where I majored in Environmental Science and French and minored in Earth Science. During college I worked public services at the academic library on campus where I did reference. After college I worked at a public library system where I did cataloging, interlibrary loan and acquisitions. I am currently pursuing my Master's of Library Science at Valdosta State University. My husband and I moved to Fairbanks for his job, and I am looking forward to working with the students at Lathrop High. I love doing research and reading books. When I am not in the library, I enjoy hiking with my two dogs, watching netflix and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

Ms. Alexis Raye Timm (Alex)Hello! I'm Alex, your new assistant librarian at Lathrop High. I have lived in Healy, Alaska, since 2014 and attended college out of state. I graduated this May with a bachelor's degree in marine science with a degree concentration in marine biology, with cum laude honors from the University of Maine. I adored my university, and it is the college of my heart always, but there's no place like home when you're from Alaska! I moved to Fairbanks this October and now work in the Lathrop library with Ms. Jamie Whiting, while I decide the next steps in my life. I would like to attend UAF and get my master's degree in marine biology, maybe a mammal concentration. I am heavily interested in sea otters, and wrote my undergrad thesis on them, let me know if you want to read it! I have also been playing saxophone since the age of 11, I own my own alto and soprano and aspire to get my hands on a baritone. If you made it this far into my note, I will add a last fun fact. If you can repeat it back to me, I will give you a Friday ice cream pass. My favorite font is times new roman in twelve point. Happy reading!
