National Novel Writing Month is a program that just gets folks to WRITE! Starting November 1st, you start writing on a daily basis to complete  50,000 words! There have been several books created this way. Just think, "Yeah I was stuck inside because of a pandemic, but I wrote a killer book that might be published! It doesn't cost anything except for time. If you want help, ask Ms. Boyce or Mrs. Rayburn. We can meet with you over the phone, email, or Zoom.

The Memoir Project brings together a collective of people who want to share their stories, reflect and record both their personal histories and the history of the world around them. Through prose and/or visual medium, participants will contribute their memoir into a larger time capsule that documents the stories from our global community.

What you get by joining THE MEMOIR PROJECT:
  • Contribute to a time capsule, where your story will be preserved indefinitely.Utilize the project as a way to reflect, share and record your history.Continue to engage with, track and promote your work no matter where you live.An opportunity to sign-up for reading events to share your story with our global community.

Join the 28 day challenge
and get an automatic email EVERY day for 28 days with a creative prompt. Please allow 24 hours for the first email to be sent. If you want, and it is appropriate, the Library will collect the writings both online and bind them for our own shared record of YOUR writing (or graphic art).

Lathrop Online:As we are in the middle of a pandemic, it might help to reach out to each other in ways other than face-to-face. So, the Library is going to start a few online activities to help bring us together as a Malemute pack.  This is Cody the Reading Dog. He like's couches and brie with roast beef. For now, he is my Library Dog role model. He's an old puppers and deserves to be front and center. BUT!!! If you would like to add on to the Lathrop Reads page, please send the picture (and the wording for a caption if you are unsure of how to make a meme), and send it to joy.boyce@k12northstar.org. I will add it to our page and possibly our social media. It doesn't have to be a pet, but it does have to be school appropriate. Let's have some fun!
